Step 2 of 6 — Platform Purpose
What will you use the platform for?
Tick all that apply — you can select both.
Step 3 of 6 — Document Selection
Which documents do you intend to order?
Some document types are subject to new regulatory requirements under the AML/CTF Act (Tranche 2).
Step 4 of 6 — Compliance Requirements
Identity verification required
Because you intend to order designated services, we must meet our obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006.
⚑
AML/CTF Tranche 2 — Designated Services: Trust and company formations are designated services under the AML/CTF Act. Smarter SMSF is required to conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD) before providing these services.
Before you can order company or trust formation documents, we need to understand how CDD will be conducted — either by your own compliance program (reliance) or by us directly via our digital identity verification partner, VerifiMe.
How CDD works on the Smarter SMSF platform
1Verify the identity of beneficial owners, directors, and trustees involved in the engagement
2Assess the risk profile of the entity and transaction
3Record the outcome in our compliance register — verified clients are cached for 12 months, so repeat orders skip re-verification
4Where Smarter SMSF conducts CDD directly, a small verification fee applies per order (individual $9.95 · SMSF/trust $79 · corporate trustee $49)
⚡
Where CDD is required, your client receives a secure VerifiMe link by email. Verification is completed digitally on their phone in 2–5 minutes — no document uploads or manual review required. On the next screen, we'll ask whether your firm operates its own AML/CTF program, which determines whether a reliance agreement applies or whether VerifiMe is used at order time.
Step 5 of 6 — AML/CTF Program
Does your firm operate its own AML/CTF program?
This determines how customer due diligence will be handled for designated service orders.
Step 6 of 6 — Reliance Agreement
Smart Move — AML/CTF Reliance Agreement
Because your firm operates its own AML/CTF program, we can rely on your CDD procedures for designated service orders under section 40 of the AML/CTF Act.
✉️
Your login credentials will be emailed to you. Once registered, check your inbox to access the Smarter SMSF platform. A formal Reliance Agreement will be sent via BoxSign for execution — but first, you'll need to complete a one-time firm identity check in the Compliance Hub.
🔐
One-time firm verification required (via VerifiMe): Before your Reliance Agreement is activated, we are required to verify your business entity (KYB) and the identity of each director or beneficial owner (KYC). This is completed digitally via VerifiMe — takes approximately 5 minutes per person. Once all principals are verified, your Reliance Agreement is issued and designated services are unlocked. No fee applies for firm-level verification where a document subscription is in place. A fee applies for verification with PAYG users.
⚠️
Compliance reminder: By acknowledging this arrangement, your firm confirms it will conduct CDD on each client prior to placing a designated service order. Smarter SMSF will rely on your compliance program under section 37A of the AML/CTF Act 2006 (Cth).
